La Rochelle University and the University of Lille became new members of GIS Asie at the beginning of 2021, which brings the number of member institutions to 25 and the number of affiliated laboratories to 33.

After the University of Bordeaux, which had joined the GIS last year following the creation of the project team Dynamique, Interactions, Interculturalités Asiatiques (D2IA), it is now the turn of the second affiliated institution of this team, La Rochelle University, to join the GIS Asie. D2IA gathers about sixty researchers, including about fifty on the Bordeaux site and about fifteen on the La Rochelle site.

The University of Lille affiliates 3 units to the GIS: the Centre d'Études en Civilisations, Langues et Lettres Étrangères (CECILLE) and its Asia Area team, the Centre lillois d’études et de recherches sociologiques et économiques (CLERSÉ), and the Centre de Recherche Droits et Perspectives du droit ((CRDP), each of which brings together a dozen lecturers and doctoral researchers working in the Asia Area.
