The conference celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC-CNRS) and the 10th Anniversary of the ASEAN Studies Center (Chulalongkorn University) and their longstanding collaboration on contemporary Southeast Asian issues. It also associates ASEAN-India Centre (RIS, New Delhi), a major partner of the ASEAN Studies Center (Chulalongkorn University). It is intended that this scientific collaboration between the three research institutes will serve as a starting point to build a large academic network on the important issue of the Indo-Pacific, to account for the perspectives of ‘great powers’ and the ASEAN countries. Over 30 senior research scholars from across the world will participate in the conference.

The conference will be opened by Ms. Usana Berananda, Director-General, Department of ASEAN Affairs of Thailand; H.E. Dr Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France in Thailand and former Director of the Asia Direction at the French MOFA; and H.E. Dr Mohan Kumar, Former Ambassador of India to France and Chairman of RIS.

Prof. Amitav Acharya (American University, Washington, D.C); Prof. Jean-Pierre Cabestan, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong); and Dr. Rahul Mishra (Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya); and Asst. Prof. Surat Horachaikul, (Chulalongkorn University) will offer us their esteemed views on the Indo-Pacific subject as keynote speakers.
