CFP 25th European Conference on South Asian Studies (ECSAS)

The 25th European Conference on South Asian Studies (ECSAS) is scheduled for 24-27 July 2018 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, (54 and 105, Blvd. Raspail, 75006 Paris). It is organized by the Centre d’Etudes de l’Inde et de l’Asie du Sud (UMR 8564, CNRS-EHESS).

The call for papers is now open and closes on 30 November 2017 at midnight (GMT). Decisions will be communicated to authors by mid-January, 2018.

Participants may not present more than one paper during the 25th ECSAS conference. In addition to this one paper, each participant may chair one panel, or be a discussant in one panel.

All the panels accepted for the ECSAS2018 are open to paper proposals through the website. EASAS encourages young researchers to submit paper proposals.

Guidelines for submitting an abstract

General guidelines

  • Please submit your abstracts online. Abstracts submitted via fax, e-mail, post, or other methods will generally not be accepted.
  • The submitting author will receive an automated email confirming receipt of the submitted abstract. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please log in again and re-submit your abstract, since for some reason the process of submitting the abstract might not have been complete.
  • The submitting author will receive any further email correspondence on the conference and is responsible to inform all co-authors by forwarding these emails to them.
  • The conference language is English, but the discussions in the panels may be authorized by the panel organizer in any other major or relevant language.
  • Abstract changes and corrections will be accepted up to the deadline 30 November 2017. If you wish to make changes, log in to the system and access your abstract directly.

Abstract contents and format

  • Please formulate the aims, the methods used, the results and the conclusion of your abstract clearly and concisely.
  • Please use a minimum of formatting for abstracts. We cannot guarantee that abstracts will be formatted exactly how they were entered.
  • Avoid using non-standard abbreviations.
  • Do not use the title or the name(s) of the author(s) in the body text of the abstract.
  • Paper proposals must consist of (character count excluds title & name of author, it INCLUDES spaces):
    • A short abstract, maximum length of 300 characters
    • A long abstract, maximum length of 1750 characters

Timing of presentations

Each panel slot will be 90 minutes long, accommodating optimally three and a maximum of four presenters; each panel may only extend over a maximum of 4 slots, i.e. at most 16 presenters.
