À propos de l'événement
This presentation is a methodological reflection on doing ethnography with objects. It explores visual and material ways of interviewing as provocative methods and as a social inquiry into the everyday domestic life of migrants. It uses the case of Vietnamese-Belgian couples through an ongoing (offline and online) object interviews on the everyday things in their homes. This ethnographic encounter is geared towards understanding how the trajectory of these objects displays and narrates the couple’s biographies, negotiations, social condition and cultural practices. While the newness of this method is challenging, it also opens a space to ask questions creatively and differently that could yield interesting insights into the complex home experience of people in mobility
