Le triangle UE-US-Japon et la politique de normes face aux multiples défis

Democracy has become a risk in developed countries. With their middle-class emerging as the losers of globalisation, populistic forces gain ground. In parallel, we face a number of external challenges, notably the rise of China - a "global (value-)depreciative empire". As a result, liberal and social values are under threat. This presentation explores the conditions under which those values are maintained in such difficult times, with particular emphasis on an enhanced cooperation between Japan and the EU - the two normative powers in the world.
