The French Academic Network for Asian Studies was created in 2013. It has had the administrative backing of a CNRS team (UPS 2999) since 2006. Sébastien Lechevalier (EHESS) and Jean François Huchet (INALCO) were its directors from 2013 until 2017.
It includes the members of the preexisting “Réseau Asie,” a network of 2,750 experts on Asia: scholars, lecturers, professors, research fellows,
PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, who mostly work for research institutions, learned societies and scientific associations. They have expertise
invarious fields and one or several of the 50 countries comprising Asia (South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, Central Asia).
The Réseau Asie was created in 2001, thanks to: Maurice Aymard (emeritus professor, EHESS); Jean-Luc Domenach (emeritus professor, FNSP); Alain Peyraube (emeritus senior research fellow, CNRS); Jean-François Sabouret (emeritus senior research fellow, CNRS).
