Drawing on newspapers such as L'Opinion (1899-1945), Le Moniteur d'Indochine (1919-1939), and Extrême-Asie (1924-1926), it examines how photographs, articles, and advertisements documented performances and shaped public perceptions. Actor portraits, rehearsal scenes, and stage images served both as archival records and as tools for promoting theatre within the colonial context. By bridging the ephemeral nature of live theatre with lasting cultural memory, the press played a crucial role in preserving and interpreting performances. These representations not only documented theatrical events but also reinforced broader colonial narratives.
